If you’ve been reading my blog for a while now, you will know that I am a big fan of facial masks. I love anything from a sheet mask to a wash off mask to an overnight sleeping mask, depending on what I feel my skin needs at the time. I especially like to combine different types of masks and use them together in a way that they compliment each other. For example, I love to use exfoliating and peeling masks, but after I use one of these I like to follow up with something more moisturising and nourishing to rehydrate my skin. I will either use the nourishing mask the same day as the exfoliating mask or the following evening.
If you read my blog post a couple of weeks ago on the Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask, you might remember that I mentioned Bobbi Brown’s Skin Nourish Mask. For me, this is the perfect mask to use after an exfoliating or peeling mask such as the Glow Recipe one.
The Bobbi Brown Skin Nourish Mask is a very rich yet lightweight moisturising mask, which is intensely hydrating but at the same time is so gentle on my skin. It is enriched with Coral Grass and Green Algae that are described as ‘powerful moisture magnets’. The ultra quenching ingredients claim to “lock in and regulate moisture for skin that is plump, smooth and nourished“. In addition to Coral Grass, Hydro Herb and Salicornia, the mask also contains Chlorella Extract and Murumuru Butter which help to boost collagen production, reduce the appearance of fine lines and strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier.
The mask is suitable for anyone with normal to very dry skin and like I mentioned previously, it is very gentle on my skin despite being quite a rich formula.
The mask is also very easy to use and doesn’t need to be washed off, which I love. To use it, I apply quite a thick layer over my face and allow it to absorb for 2-5 minutes. After it has absorbed you are supposed to tissue off the excess and gently massage the residue into the skin. To be honest though, my skin usually absorbs its very quickly and there isn’t much left for me to tissue off, so I generally just rub it all in after about five minutes and leave it at that.
I love that I can just apply this mask in the evening, wear it overnight and wake up with super moisturised and hydrated skin. You can use it once a week for intense moisturisation or three times a week for added anti-aging benefits.
The product is a medium to thick cream and comes in a very practical tube that you can just squeeze the mask out of. It contains 75ml which I think is quite a decent amount. I also love that it is the right size to take in a travel cosmetic bag. I applied a thick layer of this to my face when I flew overnight to Hong Kong last week, and by the time I was getting off the flight it had all soaked in and my skin was feeling nice and hydrated, which is generally the opposite of how it feels after a long flight!!
Like I said, I love to use this mask after I have used an exfoliating mask or peel that tend to be a little more harsh, and this mask makes my skin feel super soft and moisturised again.
This mask reminds me a lot of the Glossier Moisturising Moon mask which has been my favourite moisturising mask since I discovered it. I have talked about that one in lots of previous blog posts (such as my Winter Skincare Essentials). I use both of these masks in exactly the same way and I can’t really say that I prefer one over the other. They feel very similar on my skin and give me the same results, so I don’t think you would be disappointed with either of these if you are after an intensely moisturising mask.
This is one of three masks that Bobbi Brown has got in this range. The others are the Instant Detox Mask and the Radiance Boost Mask which both sound great too. If they are as good as the Skin Nourish Mask then I’m sure that I would really like those too. I will just have to wait a while to try those. I have got a bit of a mask overload at the minute and definitely don’t need any more for a while!
Let me know if you have tried the Bobbi Brown Skin Nourish Mask or what your favourite mask is for dry skin. I love hearing your recommendations and discovering new products that I haven’t tried before.
Have a great weekend everyone x
