Because I have a blog that I regularly use to write about beauty products, companies sometimes contact me to see if I would be interested in trying their products. More often than not, I will be offered products that I have absolutely no interest in and would never buy myself, so in these cases I politely decline the offer as I know it will just go to waste. I would rather someone else have it who will appreciate it more than me.
On the very rare occasion however, I get contacted by brands that I am actually interested in and this is one of those cases. As I am sure you will know by now, I am pretty fussy when it comes to skincare products so I always do my research before deciding if I want to try something.
When Medico Beauty contacted me to see if I wanted to try out some of their cosmedix products, I went straight to their website to help me decide if I was interested or not. To be completely honest, I had never heard of Cosmedix before this but as soon as I read about the brand, the philosophy behind their products and their ingredients list I was IMMEDIATELY interested.
Cosmedix products use botanical ingredients and are free of parabens, petroleum derivatives, artificial dyes, fragrances and sodium lauryl sulfate.
Apparently Victoria Beckham swears by their products, so if they are good enough for her they are certainly good enough for me! Lol. You can read her thoughts on them here.
When I responded to the lovely girls that contacted me, and told them that I would love to try some products they kindly asked me what my main skin concerns were so that they could make the best recommendations for me. I told them that my main concerns were fine lines and dehydrated skin. They then recommended the Benefit Clean Gentle Cleanser and the Restore Moisture Rich mask. They also gave me a discount code that you can all use to get 15% off any of their products – you can find this at the end.
This blog post will focus on the cleanser alone, simply because I haven’t tried the mask enough to write an informed review. It’s something that you only use once a week so it takes a bit longer to test.
I have, however, been using the cleanser for some time now so I wanted to share my thoughts on it.
Medico Beauty offered me these products as a gift but I am under no obligation to review them. I chose to share the details with you because this was a new brand to me, and I thought you might like to hear about Cosmedix if, like me, you were unaware of this brand. That’s what my blog is all about at the end of the day :).
Cosmedix – Benefit Clean Gentle Cleanser
The Benefit Clean Gentle Cleanser is a multi-purpose cleanser that is suitable for all skin types, particularly for dry, hypersensitive and rosacea skin. It is a luxurious cleanser that works great to remove makeup and gives the skin a deep clean. Another great thing is that it is free from SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate), which is a detergent that can lead to dry skin and is found in lots of cleansers. It is also packed with antioxidants that protect the skin whilst gently cleansing to remove environmental impurities.
The key benefits of the cleanser as listed on the website include:
- Non-irritating formulation to cleanse while preserving skin barrier function.
- Suitable for all skin types and conditions.
- Contains Herbal Amaranth that is packed with a complete set of amino acids to prevent moisture loss.
- Soothing anti-inflammatory properties to calm and hydrate sensitive skin.
I use the cleanser in the evening (I don’t use a cleanser at all in the morning) to remove my makeup and clean my skin. The cleanser has a gel like formulation which is definitely different for me as my preference with cleansers is always an oil or a balm, as you will know from my previous blog posts. However, the gel feels really nice and soothing on my skin. I mix a couple of pumps of the cleanser with a few drops of water to create a lather and then massage onto damp skin. The cleanser contains grapefruit peel oil and that’s exactly what it smells like; really fresh and a little citrusy.
I use warm water and a damp cloth to remove the cleanser from my skin. Once I am finished my skin feels squeaky clean and fresh. Given that it is a gel formula I was afraid that my skin might feel a bit stripped after using it, especially as the reason I like to use cleansing oils and balms is because they make my skin feel really nourished after cleansing. However, I felt the same results while using this cleanser, probably because it contains a number of different oils in the ingredients list.
The packaging is really chic and luxurious looking, and it comes in a 150ml bottle with a pump dispenser. I love pump dispensers as it keeps everything clean and hygienic and I can control how much I squeeze out.
Since using the cleanser my skin appears to be brighter and healthier looking. I have even received comments from people saying that my skin looks great :). I’ve added a few image below of my skin without makeup.
I am definitely impressed by this product from Cosmedix and it has left me keen to try more of their products. They have a huge selection of different cleansers and masks to suit different skin needs, not to mention lots of other amazing skincare products too. You can see all of their products here . I really want to try some of their eye creams next!
Thank you again to Medico Beauty for introducing me to this brand. I can see that I am going to be a big fan!
I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post about my Cosmedix discovery. I’d love to hear if you are familiar with this brand or if you have tried any of their products before. As always, let me know if you have any recommendations :).
Ps. Medico Beauty have kindly given me a discount code for anyone who would like to purchase anything from their website. You can use the code CLAIRE15 for a 15% discount on anything on the site; no minimum purchase necessary :).
