My bedside lockers are one of my favourite pieces of furniture in our apartment. What makes me love them so much is the fact that they were a bit of a bargain, but with a little DIY I have managed to make them resemble something from West Elm, which I am super chuffed about! 🙂
I always get lots of compliments when I post bedside locker pictures online, so I thought I would share all of the details in this blog post :).
The lockers themselves are from ‘Homes r Us‘ here in the UAE. I absolutely loved the honeycomb finish on the front and the wooden legs. However, the lockers originally had black handles on them which I wasn’t a fan of and they really didn’t fit in with the style of our apartment. In typical Claire style, I decided to do a little upcycling / DIY job to make the lockers look exactly as I wanted. I unscrewed the original black handles and sprayed them gold. Even though this was a very quick and simple task, it really changed the whole look of the lockers.
The lockers also have two really deep drawers which are so great for keeping bedside essentials (such as 50 lip balms, 10 hand creams etc. etc. you get the idea lol).
What sits on top of my locker changes regularly, and the contents of the locker drawers generally end up on rotation lol There will always be the some kind of plant (or a little bunch of fresh flowers if I have them), a lip balm and a hand cream. Other things that sometimes randomly end up there are a candle and whatever perfume I have been loving. The current set-up is as follows…
Søstrene Grene Lamp
No bedside locker is complete without a wee lamp. Continuing with the gold theme, I spotted these lamps on Søstrene Grene’s Instagram page and thought they would go perfectly with my locker. I loved the simple design of this lamp and I also liked that it was the perfect size. You don’t want your lamp to take up the entire bedside table so I thought this size was just right.
Unfortunately we don’t have Søstrene Grene here in the UAE but my sister very kindly brought me two of the lamps when she came to visit earlier this year and I absolutely love them :).
White and Gold Planter
Despite not being very good at looking after them, I love plants and have them all over my home, so it was only right that I had one beside my bed too. As much I love plants, what I enjoy even more is finding cute pots to plant them in. I found this little white pot with the gold stand on an online shop called Jolly Chic. Again, I love the really simple but effective design of it and this little plant seems very happy here… for now anyway!
Desino Print
The print in the gold frame is a relatively new addition to my bedside table and I love it. I ordered the print from Desenio and it is one of their ‘hide’ posters. The description for this image was ‘beauty lies in simplicity’, and I think that is absolutely true! This photo is indeed very simple, but I think it is cheeky yet modest at the same time :).
Bath and Body Works Candle
This big candle is also a recent addition. It is one of the three wick candles from Bath and Body Works. I got it during one of their huge sales and I think it is so gorgeous. To be honest, the pretty jar drew me in more than the actual scent of the candle. Luckily it does smells good too but I loved the design on the jar and of course it has all of my favourite pastel colours. These candles last for ages but as you know, I like to clean out the jar once the candle has finished burning and use it as a little trinket pot or a vase for a few short cut flowers. This will definitely be one of those jars that I keep!
Marc Jacobs – Daisy
Next up on my bedside table is one of my old time favourite perfumes; the original Marc Jacobs Daisy. This definitely deserves its place here as not only does it smell amazing and I wear it all of the time, but it also looks absolutely gorgeous. Marc Jacobs do such a good job of designing their perfume bottles but this original Daisy is definitely my favourite, in terms of both scent and design.
Glossier – Balm Dotcom
There are very few places in my home that aren’t occupied by a Glossier lip balm, or at least some brand of lip balm. The Glossier Balm Dotcom in mint is definitely one of favourites. I have spoken about the Glossier lip balms in previous blog posts here and here. I also love this Korres lip butter in jasmine (but I only use this one during the day because it has some colour in it and I definitely don’t want that all over my pillow! lol).
Lollia – Hand Cream
My current hand cream of choice is this Lollia by Margot Elena cream, which I got earlier in the year when we were in Hong Kong. Lollia is such a gorgeous brand which I think is really underrated. Her bath and body products are absolutely beautiful and her packaging is to die for. The design of everything is really gorgeous. This hand cream has such nourishing ingredients including macadamia nut & avocado oils, aloe extracts, and Shea Butter. The cream has a really thick consistency which is exactly the kind of hand cream I love, especially for using at night time.
Lollia also now have a home fragrance collection that includes some gorgeous candles and diffusers which I am dying to try!
Those are all of the details of my bedside locker and everything on top of it at the minute 🙂 The one on Dan’s side isn’t as exciting but I did manage to get a few little plants on that one too! lol
Happy weekend everyone!
