If you are a regular reader of my blog you will know that I am a big fan of Glossier. This is definitely not the first Glossier post I have written and I’m pretty sure it won’t be the last 🙂 This one is going to be short and sweet…….
Glossier You Solid
My last Glossier post was written back in April. In that one I spoke very highly about the Glossier ‘You’ perfume. I am still absolutely loving that perfume and I wear it almost every day. However, in my last post I complained about how small the bottle was and that I was finding myself going through it very quickly, especially as it didn’t have much lasting power on my skin.
I mentioned back then that Glossier had just released the ‘You’ perfume but in a solid form, and I had gotten it as a birthday present which I was very excited about. I was hoping that the solid version might last longer on my skin and thought it would be very handy for carrying in my bag as it comes in a little pink compact.
Since then I have been testing out the solid version of the perfume and these are my thoughts on it…
Given how much I love original perfume, I was afraid that the solid version might not smell exactly the same for some reason, but it does! Hallelujah! As a reminder, the three base notes are:
- Ambrette: comfy, warm
- Ambrox: smooth, salty, animalistic
- Musk: long-lasting, addictive
And the top notes are:
- Iris root: earthy, green, woody
- Pink Pepper: spice, sparking
When I apply it to my skin it smells exactly the same and I can confirm that, for me, it definitely lasts longer on my skin than the Eau De Parfum. Hallelujah again!
The perfume is packaged in a pink, heavy metal compact and it is designed to perfectly fit the curve of your palm and thumb. The lid slides to the side to open it. It even comes with its own little pink bag. The whole thing just feels very luxurious and fancy lol and I absolutely love it! HOWEVER… I have exactly the same complaint as I did with the Eau De Parfum. There is such a small amount of product in the compact (0.14 oz)!! I think it would be an amazing idea if Glossier produced refills for this compact so you could just buy the solid part of the perfume and slot it into your little case that you already have, instead of having to buy the whole thing again. The solid is however almost half the price of the Eau De Parfum (£19) but it really doesn’t last a wipe!
So to summarise; I love the scent, I love the packaging but I hate how little product you get :(.
Haloscope in Quartz
The other glossier product which I received for my birthday was the Haloscope highlighter in the colour Quartz.
I’m not usually the biggest fan of highlighters as they usually just ‘highlight’ all of the wrong things on my face lol, like texture and large pores. However, Haloscope is something a little different. It is marketed as skincare and makeup in one and claims to be a “dew effect highlighter“.
The product comes in a roll-up stick form and it has an inner and outer layer; essentially a skincare layer and a makeup layer. It has a solid oil core of vitamin-rich moisturisers that provide a hydrated, dewy finish. The outer layer is infused with genuine crystal extracts that enlighten and brighten the skin.
The highlighter has a really nice smooth (albeit a little sticky) consistency and the colour quartz is a pretty, pearlescent champagne colour.
It’s gives a very subtle and natural glow to my skin without looking sparkly or glittery, which is exactly the kind of highlight that I like.
I use this in three different ways. Sometimes I will swipe it onto my cheeks and blend it in before I apply my foundation (for a more subtle glow), and other times I will dab it on my cheeks on top of my foundation for more of an intense highlight.
My favourite way to use this product is actually to use it on my eye lids. I know that sounds strange but it gives a nice natural sheen to my eyes and has the same effect as a cream eye shadow with absolutely no effort. I just rub it onto my finger and then apply it to my eyelid. Its subtle, quick and easy.
I don’t think there is anything particularly bad about this product but I think it feel a bit indifferent about it. I do like the idea of the skincare built into it, but I can’t say that I absolutely love it. It’s not something that I feel the need to use everyday and I have other products that give similar results. It’s nice but it’s nothing special in my opinion.
That’s it for this quick Glossier post. Let me know if you have tried any of these Glossier products, or any other Glossier products for that matter.
You can also read my earlier Glossier posts here and here if you would like to :).
Have a great weekend everyone!
