I am quite fussy when it comes to lip products and you could say that I have tried my fair share. One of my earliest blog posts was all about my favourite lip balms which you can read here if you are interested.
I have made two new discoveries in the last couple of months that I have been really loving so wanted to share the details. One is a lip balm (treatment) and the other is a lipstick, so they actually compliment each other and make the perfect duo :).
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
As with all Korean skincare brands over the last few years, Laneige has really positioned itself well within the beauty industry this year. In particular, their Lip Sleeping Mask has become an increasingly popular product and this is why……
I had been hearing people rave about the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask online, so when Dan and I went to Hong Kong in April (where you can find every single cosmetic brand known to man and at a better price) the lip mask was the first thing on my shopping list! Much to my delight, there were Laneige shops all over Hong Kong and, very conveniently, there was one right next door to the hotel where we were staying. I went straight in, got my lip mask and have been using and loving it ever since! 🙂
The Lip Sleeping Mask is marketed as “a leave-on lip mask that soothes and moisturises for smoother, more supple lips overnight”. Now I don’t know if a lip treatment should perform any differently but, in my opinion, this product is like a very thick lip balm. It is enriched with Vitamin C and antioxidants, and boasts hyaluronic acid and minerals which lock in moisture by creating a protective film over the lips.
The product comes in a pretty pink pot and you get a very decent amount (20g). The best part is that it even comes with it own little rubber spatula for application which I love!! I like the idea of not having to dip my fingers in and out of the jar every time I want to use it. You can see all of the little indentations in my pot where I have dug the product out with the spatula lol. It’s just so much more hygienic and the spatula just scoops out the right amount of product to cover my lips. I’ve said it before about other cosmetics that come with an applicator but I just love it lol, it makes the product feel very luxurious.
Like I said, the lip mask has a very balm like consistency which I love. It also smells absolutely amazing. It now comes in a few different flavours but the one that I have is the berry flavour and, as you would expect, its scent is of sweet berries. It smells good enough to eat!!
The product is really thick and long lasting on the lips which I always think is a sign of a really good lip product. I apply it right before going to bed and I can always feel it on my lips the next morning. This is exactly what I expect from a ‘lip sleeping mask’. It makes my lips feel really moisturised and hydrated which I absolutely love. Even though this is technically a ‘sleeping mask’ you could definitely use this during the day too just like a lip balm.
I am completely hooked on this lip mask and would recommend getting your hands on it if you can. It really is such a lovely product to use and has become a permanent step in my bed time routine lol,it feels so luxurious applying this right before bed. I love it!
The next lip product is a lipstick from the Guerlain Rouge G range. This line of lipsticks from Guerlain could not be more up my street if they tried. It is basically a customisable lipstick line. I absolutely love anything that I can customise lol and when its a lipstick that’s even better!
With the Guerlain Rouge G lipsticks you can choose your lipstick shade as well as the case for it :). There are a total of 30 lipsticks to choose from and 15 gorgeous cases.
Choosing the case was the hardest part of the decision because they were all so pretty. The best part about it is that once the lipstick runs out (or if I want to get a different shade in the future) I can reuse my case. With this in mind I knew I had to choose carefully lol.
I choose the lipstick in shade 02 which is a gorgeous pinky, mauve nude. It is a really natural every day shade that is so easy to wear.
The lipstick formula is beautiful too. It is “enriched with plant-based polymers and silver microcrystals with a reflective power………… to enhance lips, cloaking them in intense and luminous long-lasting colour’.
The lipstick contains jojoba and mango butter which make it feel really smooth and moisturising on the lips.
For the case, I chose the one called ‘K Doll’ which is a gorgeous iridescent baby pink. The case is very heavily weighted making it really luxe. When you pull the lipstick bullet out of the case it flips into a double sided mirror making it so convenient to use. This is definitely a ‘treat yourself’ kind of product and not something that you would buy every day. I absolutely love mine and the fact that it is completely customised by me. I know that it is something that I will have for a very long time :).
