This blog post was very much inspired by a walk I had around Dubai Mall last week. In particular, by the most beautiful day bed / sofa that I saw in Bloomingdales. Given that I am not in the market for a new daybed (and even if I was, I could not afford this one lol), I thought that instead I would put together an interior inspired mood board and at the same time work on my Photoshop skills! As always with the mood boards that I create, I try to choose pieces that compliment each other and would look good together in one room. I like to think that if somebody had an empty room to work with, they could look at one of my mood boards and, if they bought everything on there (or similar things), they would be well on the way to a decorated (or partially decorated) room :).
Jonathan Adler – Charade Capsule Daybed
So here it is, the star of the show. I seem to have acquired quite an obsession with velvet furniture, and while I know that it is a trend that will come and go, this mint green velvet daybed / sofa is something that I think I would love forever. It’s mint green, its velvet and it has gold legs…….. what’s not to love?! I’m sure this won’t be to everyone’s taste, and I think a piece of furniture like this needs to be placed in a very specific style of room. It’s not one that you can just throw into any old room and expect it to look good. This needs to be positioned and styled properly. I think this would look amazing at the bottom of a huge bed or in the corner of a large room with a blanket or throw placed across the centre of it. I also think this would look absolutely gorgeous in a dressing room (if you are lucky enough to have one!).
Oliver Bonas – Mica Side Table
This side table from Oliver Bonas is my idea of the perfect side table! It is gold and has a marble top so will suit any room and colour scheme. I think two of these would also look gorgeous at bedside tables.
Anthropologie – Tidal Motion Lamp Shade
The lamp shade is from Anthropologie and it has all of the colours that I am loving right now! It’s called the Tidal Motion Lamp and I absolutely love the design of this (perhaps because I am a Pisces and it reminds me of the ocean lol). I think this lamp would look great on the Mica Side Table from Oliver Boans. Not to mention, the colour is perfect with that green velvet sofa!
Kate Spade – Rise to the Occasion Candle
Everyone knows that I love a good candle! Funny enough I also love Kate Spade, so when I saw this mint green Kate Spade candle I thought BINGO! These were actually on sale in Bloomingdales and I bought a gold and white version, but I think this green one goes better with the theme going on in this moodboard. I haven’t lit my candle yet so I can’t comment on the scent or how the wax burned but it looks very nice and that’s important, right? The fragrance notes of this green one are ‘macaroon’ and that doesn’t sound too bad to me. I think I will clean out this candle pot when it’s finished burning and use it as a pen or makeup brush holder :). Let me know if you would like to know the best way to clean wax out of old candle jars. I’ve done this many times! I can’t bare to throw out the pretty ones! Especially ones that have a nice quote on the front like this one! 🙂
Kate Spade – Pearl Place Rose Bowl
Next up is another item from Kate Spade. It’s this spotty gold vase and I think it’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen! Some short cut fresh flowers in this would be just perfect!
Anthropologie – Marblesque Pencil Holder
This item from Anthropologie is marketed as a pencil holder which I think is a bit extreme! Maybe if you had a super fancy pen like a Mont Blanc or something, then it might be nice to have a heavy duty pen holder like this, but for the Bic lovers out there this is probably a bit unnecessary lol. However, I think that this could also look good as a paper weight or just as an ornament. It’s white and it’s marble, need I say more?!
Society6 and Etsy Prints
I am a big fan of simple prints. I think they can bring a lot of character and a pop of colour to a room, but in a very subtle way. I am particularly a fan of cacti prints and slogan / inspirational quotes. Society6 and Etsy have a massive selection of gorgeous prints. Some of them you can order to have delivered in a frame, and others you can simply print yourself. They are inexpensive and can be changed regularly to keep up with trends, your taste and your interiors.
That’s it for my latest interior mood board. I absolutely love creating these and even though I cannot constantly redecorate my apartment with these things, I love being able to put items together in this way and stay inspired by all of the lovely things in the shops right now.
Let me know if you have found any interior pieces you are loving at the moment 🙂
