If you are a regular reader of my blog then you will know that my absolute favourite cleanser is the Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm. I have been using that one for years, and given how saturated the cosmetic industry currently is I though it might be about time that I tried something new. The price point of the Emma Hardie cleanser also played a role in this decision. I know that there are many brands producing great skincare products at an affordable price these days so I wanted to be sure that I wasn’t missing out on a better overall option.
You will also know that I am a huge fan of Pixi products and I have tried a lot of them recently that have really impressed me, so I thought I might as well give one of their cleansers a try too.
I opted for the Pixi Beauty Rose Cream Cleanser. I have tried a number of other products from Pixi Rose range, such as the Rose Oil Blend Facial Oil and Rose Flash Balm. I really enjoyed both of these so I thought the cleanser from this range would be a good choice for me.
I have included the Rose Oil Blend and the Rose Flash Balm in a previous blog post so I won’t talk about them again now. You can read that post here if you would like to :).
As with all Pixi products, the packaging got an immediate thumbs up from me. It is pastel pink and green and comes in a 135ml tube that is lightweight and easy to use.
The cleanser costs £18 which I think is a very reasonable price for a cleanser. It features “mineral-rich mud to detoxify, rose, chamomile and aloe vera to soothe and avocado to condition“. The cleanser claims to give a radiant, refreshed result. All of those things sounded good to me!
As the name suggests, the cleanser is a cream product. It has a thick, creamy (mud-like) consistency and has a very subtle rose scent.
When I first started using this cleanser I made the mistake of applying it to dry skin. I think it is perfectly fine to use it this way if you choose to but I did not enjoy using it like this. It felt a bit drying on my skin to begin with and I didn’t feel like I was getting a deep cleanse.
The next time I wet my face before applying the cleanser and it made it much easier to use. It lathered up nicely and I felt like my face was much cleaner after I rinsed it off.
This is a nice gentle cleanser and it does get the job done but I don’t really have more to say about it than that. For me, it really doesn’t have a patch on the Emma Hardie cleansing balm. I know they are very different products and it’s probably not fair to compare them, but I really feel that I get a lot more from the Emma Hardie cleanser to justify the extra cost. I feel that it does a better job at removing my makeup and I like that I can use it in other ways too (such as a mask treatment or as a night time moisturiser). It is all personal preference at the end of the day, so I think if you are looking for a basic cleanser that gets the job done at a reasonable price then this Pixi one is a good option. If you are after something that feels a bit more luxurious and something that does more than just cleanse your face then this may not be the one for you.
I feel that this Pixi cleanser is more of a morning cleanser when you don’t need to remove makeup from your face, or it would be good for a second cleanse. I personally prefer to use a more efficient cleanser once than having to use two different products.
I wouldn’t rule out buying this cleanser again in the future, but once I have finished this one I will probably be going back to my old faithful.
That’s it for my quick review of this Pixi cleanser. Let me know if you have tried this one too or what your favourite cleanser is.
Have a great weekend everyone! X
