If you are a regular reader of my blog then you will know that I am a huge fan of candles and home fragrance. I go through them at the speed of light and I just love finding new ones to try. In my opinion there is no such thing as too many candles!
When Lauren from Scent by Mail got in touch with me and asked me if I would be interested in testing out one of her subscription boxes I quite literally shrieked with joy. I have never come across a candle subscription box before and I think it is an absolutely genius idea. I love the concept behind subscription boxes in general and even though I know I have paid for the subscription fee earlier, it always manages to feel like a surprise treat when the box shows up at the door every month. A candle subscription box is even better!!
I am under no obligation to write a blog post or promote this brand in any way. Lauren kindly gifted me one month’s subscription to try it for myself. Like I said, I have never come across a candle subscription before and I am so, so impressed by the whole concept behind Scent by Mail and Lauren’s personal story in creating the brand that I really wanted to share the details and support an amazing local company.
Lauren has been working in scented candle and home fragrance retail for over 10 years and has developed a genuine passion for discovering quality scented candles and home fragrances that produce the strongest fragrance and burn the cleanest without costing a fortune. I really love the idea of all of that research being done for me, and the best selection of candles being packaged up and sent to me in a pretty box!
In Lauren’s own words “Scent by Mail is the ultimate scented candle and home fragrance subscription box delivering incredible and unique home fragrances to your door. We work closely with 40 of the top home fragrance brands to carefully select seasonal scents and fragrances that we know you’ll love”.
Each month the box is tailored to the specific season, which means that you always get to try something new.
I received the May subscription box so I thought it would be nice to show what was inside the box for that particular month :).
The contents arrived in a very pretty cardboard box. When I opened up the box it had a gorgeous card with a personalised note from Lauren and a leaflet that outlined all of the details of the contents of the box including:
- Product brand and name
- Product description
- Burn time
- RRP
The card and leaflet were printed on really nice quality card with the pretty Scent by Mail branding on the front and back. Underneath the cards, the contents of the box were wrapped up in tissue paper and sealed with a sticker that said ‘Hey Good Lookin’ lol. I really appreciate little details like this; I love good presentation!
As soon as I opened the package the smell was absolutely amazing!! We were off to a good start with the pretty packaging and the scent wafting out of the box.
Inside there were the following products:
- A 25-40 hour Yankee Candle small Jar (A Calm & Quite Place, which is a new 2018 Yankee Candle scent)
- An 8 hour Yankee Candle Wax Melt (Sun – Drenched Apricot Rose, which is also a new 2018 scent)
- A 20 hour Shearer tin candle (Amber Noir)
- A 35 hour Lily Flame tin candle (blush)
- A Bridgewater Candle Company Sweet Grace scented sachet
I think this is such a lovely selection of home fragrances and it’s a great way to try out a particular product that I may not have discovered myself. Even better that it comes recommended by someone with great knowledge of the products.
What I love especially about the service is that there are so many different options. You can choose between a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription and then you also choose from the following options:
Scent Explorer Box (3 items) – £15 per month
Scent Enthusiast Box (5 items) – £20 per month
Scent Extraordinaire Box (7 items) – £25 per month
I love the idea of being able to customise my subscription order so that I can spend as little or as much as I want.
You can also purchase one monthly box if you want to send someone a gift rather than signing up for the rolling subscription which I think is such a lovely gift idea, especially since it would be personalised and already wrapped beautifully. You also save up to 25% of the high street RRP of the products so it’s a win-win!
I definitely don’t want to get into talking about Christmas just yet but wouldn’t this be a great gift idea for any candle fanatics you know. Imagine having the subscription and not having to worry about your latest candle being on the way out as you know a new box of them will show up at the door any day lol
I hope you enjoyed this review of Scent by Mail. Like I said earlier, I am under no obligation to write a review, but as you will know by now, I only ever write about products and brands that I genuinely love and would use myself and I really think that Scent by Mail deserves a shout out. Let me know if you have ever tried it yourself :).
Have a great weekend everyone x
