When it comes to beauty products, there are few things I like more than a product that will make my skin look dewy and glowy. You either love the oily look or you hate it – I am definitely a lover lol.
I recently did a blog post on my number one product for getting that dewy skin look, and that was with Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter. I really do love that stuff more and more every day, but there are definitely an increasing number of products like this on the market and I never like to rule one out over another incase I miss out on something better.
Another product in this category that really caught my attention has been the Vita Liberata Beauty Blur Skin Tone Optimiser. When I read the description of this, it really sounded like something that could challenge the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter.
Vita Liberata describe their Beauty Blur as “a multipurpose tinted primer and skin finisher. Infused with Aloe Vera and Shea Butter, Beauty Blur Skin Tone Optimizer hydrates, moisturises and conditions the skin whilst contouring and highlighting for a naturally toned, sun-kissed glow. Perfecting the complexion by masking blemishes, the colour correcting primer provides a lit from within effect for a flawless photo-ready finish“. Now if that doesn’t sound good to you then I don’t know what does?!
As I have written about the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter before, I won’t get into all of the details on that one again here. Right off the bat though, I want to say that, for me, the Vita Liberata is not a replacement for the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter. Both products are roughly the same price but the Charlotte Tilbury one performs much better for me and gives a glow that really does last all day by comparison to the Vita Liberata Beauty Blur. I could also happily wear Flawless Filter without putting any foundation over the top for a nice natural look, as it really is a great complexion booster, and does a good job at blurring imperfections. Vita Liberata on the other hand, is definitely more of a priming product in my opinion, and really it’s something that I would only wear under my foundation.
This is not to say that I do not like the Vita Liberata Beauty Blur as a product in itself, it just doesn’t do the same job for me as Flawless Filter.
With the comparison to Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless Filter out of the way, I wanted to share my actual thoughts on Vita Liberata’s Beauty Blur, and the things that I really do like about it as well as the things that I don’t like so much.
Packaging
Working from the outside in, the first thing to talk about is the packaging, and this is one aspect of this product that I really do like. It comes in a lightweight plastic tube, has a pump applicator and a very pretty rose gold lid. The packaging is hygenic and convenient but still looks good so it ticks all of the boxes for me on that front.
Formula / Effect on My Skin
The product is very lightweight and has a gorgeous iridescent glow when I first put it onto my skin. It doesn’t feel greasy or heavy and is very comfortable to wear. However, based on the description of the product I was expecting it to be a product that I could wear on days that I didn’t want to wear foundation but wanted something that would give my skin a little boost and make my complexion look good. However, the product is so lightweight that it doesn’t really blur any imperfections or add any coverage. For me, the best way to use this is as an illuminating primer under my foundation which makes my makeup look more dewy. Although, I do find that the illuminating and dewy effect somewhat disappears throughout the day and the lasting power isn’t really there.
Ingredients and Shade Selection
Given that Beauty Blur is marketed as a skin optimiser product and not a foundation or tinted moisturiser, I think the shade range is very generous. You can choose from the following shades depending on your skin tone:
- Café Crème – For very light skin tones
- Latte Light – For light skin tones
- Latte – For medium skin tones
- Latte Dark – For medium to dark skin tones
- Mocha – For dark skin tones
I have the Latte Light shade and I think this colour works well for my skin tone.
With more and more of a push towards environmentally friendly products, I love that this product is:
- Organic
- Natural
- Paraben and alcohol free
- Non-toxic
- Vegan friendly
Price
Last up is the thing that I like least about this product and that is the price. It costs almost £30 which I think is a lot for a product of this quality. The Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter is almost exactly the same price but I consider that one to be a higher quality product in every sense.
Whilst I enjoy using Beauty Blur, I’m not sure that I would repurchase it once this one runs out. I would 100% prefer go for Flawless Filter for the same price.
I hope this is helpful to anyone who, like me, wondered how this product compared to Hollywood Flawless Filter. If you are looking for something that will give your skin a subtle glow, and that you can wear under your foundation, than you might like this product. However, if you are after something with more coverage and something that improves your complexion and glows all day (as I thought this would), then perhaps this isn’t the right one for you.
Let me know what your favourite glowy skin products are and if you have tried the Beauty Blur by Vita Liberata.
Have a great weekend! x
